Packing Instructions
If you are shipping an item to our studio, here are some important steps to follow.
- For any object that is in pieces, wrap each piece separately so that they cannot touch or rub against each other. Bundle the wrapped pieces together so that they cannot move.
- Double box. Pack the object with any pieces (wrapped as above) snugly in a cardboard shipping carton using plenty of cushioning material. Close it, then pack this box into a larger box – there should be 2-3 inches of space on all six sides, between the inner and outer boxes. Fill this empty space with foam packing peanuts or other appropriate material so that the inner box will not shift during shipping.
- Some objects with wings, fingers, or other fragile protruding parts may break in shipping unless they are snugly packed in the inner box with no pressure on the delicate parts.
- It is often a good idea to take the object to a professional pack and ship store if there is any question about packing it safely for shipment to us.
